Windows 11 22H2 Español: Spanish Settings and Support Status

Share

Using Windows in Spanish does not require installing an old Windows release. You can change the display language before or after an upgrade on an edition that supports additional display languages.

Check Your Version and Support Status

Press Windows + R, enter winver, and record the version. Also check the edition under Settings > System > About.

Windows 11 22H2 has reached end of servicing. Adding Spanish does not extend its support or supply missing security updates. Use Microsoft’s current release information and the supported upgrade offered to your device rather than downloading 22H2 specifically for Spanish. Our 22H2 overview provides historical context.

Set Spanish as Your Windows Display Language

  1. Open Settings > Time & language > Language & region.
  2. Choose Add a language, search for Español, and select the appropriate regional variant.
  3. Install its Language pack. Speech and handwriting components are optional for changing the display language.
  4. Select Spanish as Windows display language, save your work, and sign out when prompted. Sign back in to apply it.

A Home Single Language license can restrict changing the display language. If Windows reports that only one display language is supported, check the edition’s licensing options instead of repeatedly reinstalling the pack.

Fixing Partial or Incomplete Spanish After Update

Windows display language, preferred app languages, keyboard layout, and regional formats are related but separate controls. Check the Preferred languages order and each app’s own settings if it remains in another language.

A display-language change does not guarantee that every app, recovery screen, or installer becomes Spanish. Do not reinstall all applications merely because some text remains English. Check the publisher’s language support first.

Verify the selected keyboard layout at sign-in so passwords are entered correctly. Changing the keyboard layout alone does not translate the Windows interface.

Prepare for a Supported Windows Upgrade

Back up important files, retain any BitLocker recovery key, connect power, and use Windows Update’s supported offer. Required free space varies by update and device; 20GB is not a universal guarantee.

Keep antivirus protections active unless a specific incompatibility requires a documented remedy. During installation, follow the displayed instructions and avoid interrupting an active update simply because progress pauses. A language change is not a repair for an update failure.

Why Avoid Third-Party Spanish Versions of Windows

Official Windows language features remove the need for an unofficial “fully Spanish” system image. Use Microsoft or your device manufacturer for supported installation media and the appropriate architecture, edition, and language.

For Spanish menus, configure the language pack. For security servicing, move from 22H2 to a supported release through the appropriate upgrade path. Neither task requires the other to be completed first.
